An Irish Blessing

Today is Saint Patrick's Day and although it hasn't always been so, sixteen years ago it became my favorite holiday.  Why?  Because my oldest grandchild, Jake, was born on Saint Paddy's day!  Our roots are Scotch-Irish on my fraternal grandmother's side.  Her name was Familia (Mitty) Glenn.  A fair red-head she was too which is where my reddish blonde comes from.

But back to my grandson, Jake.  He has been such a blessing in our lives and has grown into a fine young man.  He still calls his grandparents almost every day and never runs out of anything to say.  He's a talker - much like his grandpa.   And he doesn't mind hanging out with us on weekends.  Now, that may change once he gets his driver's license next week - I hope not because I so enjoy his company.

Here's a Traditional Irish Blessing for all my friends on this Irish holiday.  We sometimes use this in our church as the benediction.

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face,  and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."
