People from that generation witnessed changes in their that redefined an era. The progression of events must have been mind-boggling. They went from horse and buggies to automobiles. They witnessed the first airplanes flying in the sky. So many changes in world history began in the early 20th century; The Spanish flu, World War 1 and World War II, nuclear weapons, nuclear power and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon. The world had stayed much the same for several centuries but an explosion of growth and progress began at about the time my mother was born. I wish I had written down all her stories, but when we're young, we think our moms are going to live forever. Wouldn't it be nice to slip back in time and ask our ancestors a few questions! I think it was very well written and moving! It reminds some of the book, Jesus is for Real, at the end. Thank you for sharing your mom's story. It is, sadly, very relevant today. Only, people don't get to be by their loved one's side when they are sick and pass on. She was 14 when she died from the Spanish flu in December, 2018. Mom was heartbroken from the loss of her favorite sister and talked about her often. "But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew, upon a thought, produces that which make thousands, perhaps millions, think.”

As we've studied in the Letter of James this past month, our words can be powerful. Much good can come from them but equally much bad. We always need to be mindful of how we use them. I'm humbled to think that those first words I wrote about James touched so many hearts to make all this happen. I've found that when we use our words to glorify God, they seems to have a domino effect; like gently touching the first one and looking on as a fascinating chain reaction continues to knock down each domino as it touches another.Glendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08974591262014761054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1807358689849758829.post-70230291471938703312018-10-25T06:28:54.821-04:002018-10-25T06:28:54.821-04:00Glenda, God has blessed everyone who has been invo...Glenda, God has blessed everyone who has been involved in helping James. There's a common theme and a lot of the same characters in each, but any of them can be stand alone. If you're going to read the series, I would suggest starting with the first one. I know several of us bloggies can have their souls uplifted just by being beside the sea. Good advice for us to always try to expect mountains of goodness.
